Lite vs. Premium

The ProxyShield service provides an invisible barrier between your server and the rest of the internet. All traffic to your server must first pass through the ProxyShield before it is forwarded on. This ensures only clean traffic reaches its intended destination.

ProxyShield® Lite

ProxyShield Lite is included in the cost of all dedicated servers. It provides coverage mainly for bandwidth-consumption attacks. Generic filters are placed in-line with your connection, and all incoming requests are filtered based on our rulesets. Illegitimate requests are refused, and the rest of the traffic is forwarded on. This service works best for those who are not using their server to host websites, or for websites that are being affected only due to high bandwidth utilization. We NEVER null route because of an attack!

ProxyShield® Premium

ProxyShield® Premium is an advanced solution recommended for complex website-based attacks. These advanced attacks many times do not rely on the saturation of bandwidth to the server, but rather consumption of computational resources on the server itself. Attacks often times will use real computers to send seemingly legitimate requests to a website at extremely high rates. Because these requests look real to most filters, and the traffic is let through, it can result in the webserver software (usually IIS on Windows servers, and Apache on Linux/Unix servers) to overload. These attacks are much more sophisticated and require extensive manual monitoring, configurations, and custom filter authoring. This service can stop virtually ANY attack. We have not found an attack that we've been unable to stop to date.
